Baseball Recap: Mayfield Takes a Loss

Mayfield suffered their closest defeat since March 19, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Obion County Rebels by a score of 13-11. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kyler Simpson led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Beggs, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Obion County, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

Coming up, Mayfield will face off against Trigg County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Obion County, they will head out to take on Livingston Central at 3:40 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.8 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
