Baseball Recap: Halstead's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Halstead was forced to take a big defeat against they on Monday, they got the better of them on Monday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Douglass Bulldogs. Considering the Dragons' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Reece Carmichael made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Halstead is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-14 otherwise. Carmichael was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 games.

In other batting news, Cayden Cornejo was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Noah Diehl was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base.

Halstead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

The win snapped Halstead's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-15 record. As for Douglass, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Halstead will take on Hoisington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Douglass, they will challenge Kingman on Thursday.
