Softball Recap: Dowagiac Picks Up 14th Straight Win on the Road

Dowagiac put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Paw Paw Red Wolves a 5-0 shutout. The Chieftains have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Wolves, too.

Not much got past Bree Campbell, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Paw Paw off the board. Campbell has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charleigh Reed, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia McIntosh, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Dowagiac's win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Paw Paw, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dowagiac will challenge Buchanan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Paw Paw, they will host Plainwell at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Wolves are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
