Baseball Recap: Cypress Creek Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Cypress Creek and Boone, and Cypress Creek kept the tradition alive. The Cypress Creek Bears' pitchers stepped up to hand the Boone Braves a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Miguel Figueroa tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Cypress Creek let Diego Miranda and Bryan Puello run wild. Miranda scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Puello scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Puello also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Roger Silva was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cypress Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cypress Creek's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Boone, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coincidentally, Cypress Creek and Boone will both be playing Timber Creek the next time they take the field. Cypress Creek will head out to face Timber Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Boone will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
