Softball Recap: Etiwanda Picks Up 12th Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chino Hills, Etiwanda was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Etiwanda let Brianna Gutierrez and Dailynn Battee run wild. Gutierrez went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Battee went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Gutierrez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Galindo, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Etiwanda pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

When Etiwanda and Rancho Cucamonga next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Eagles will try to stop Upland's three-game winning streak when they meet at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Etiwanda 2.3, the Highlanders/Scots 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Rancho Cucamonga will take on Chino Hills and their four-game winning streak at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
