Baseball Game Preview: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. St. Francis Golden Knights

The Thousand Oaks Lancers will take on the St. Francis Golden Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Thousand Oaks' tournament run continued when they took on Poly on Wednesday. Thousand Oaks came out on top against Poly by a score of 7-3.

Luc Forkin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matthew Magruder, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was James Luderer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Thousand Oaks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, St. Francis had just enough and edged out Hart 3-2 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Golden Knights have won by just one run.

St. Francis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominik Hidalgo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Hidalgo a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for St. Francis and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs over those games. As for Thousand Oaks, their record is now 2-0.

Thousand Oaks came up short against St. Francis in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 7-3. Can Thousand Oaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
