Softball Preview: Foothills Christian Knights vs. University City Centurions

The Foothills Christian Knights will face off against the University City Centurions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Foothills Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so University City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Foothills Christian had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Madison on Friday. The Knights put the hurt on the Warhawks with a sharp 15-3 victory. Considering the Knights have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Romeka was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Foothills Christian got a massive performance out of Gabby Wolford, who went 1-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Wolford has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Gomez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Canyon Hills hit University City with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Centurions fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 5-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 4, 2017, but that streak is no more.
