The Panthers put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 13-6 victory on Monday. Considering the Panthers have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Caleb Entwisle and Jeremy Wang were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Entwisle pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Wang struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin-Joseph Rieden, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
Prospect kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Prospect's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Piedmont Hills, they moved to 17-9 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.
