Baseball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. Rancho Bernardo Broncos

For the second straight game, San Marcos will face off against Rancho Bernardo. The Knights will welcome the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Rancho Bernardo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

San Marcos is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Rancho Bernardo just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos.

For Rancho Bernardo's part, they got a great performance from Caden Dockan as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Dockan a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Rancho Bernardo let Jr. Gonzales and HUGO GONZALEZ run wild. Gonzales went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while GONZALEZ went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Gonzales a new career-high. Owen Glick was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

San Marcos' defeat dropped their record down to 15-5-1. As for Rancho Bernardo, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
