Baseball Game Preview: Round Lake Panthers vs. Barrington Fillies/Broncos

The Round Lake Panthers will face off against the Barrington Fillies/Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Round Lake's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Wednesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Round Lake's last matchup with Antioch could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Saturday. The Panthers lost 14-2 to the Sequoits.

Round Lake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javier Rolon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Meanwhile, Barrington made easy work of Crystal Lake South on Monday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Fillies/Broncos in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won three in a row.

Kayden Schumaker looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Jackson Cavaliero was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Will Renshaw was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Barrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Barrington's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-11-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Round Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 5-21.
