Volleyball Recap: Leland Takes a Loss

Leland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Branham Bruins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

While Leland ultimately came up short, they really made Branham work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-18, 24-26, 25-15.

Leland's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Branham, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Leland will head out to square off against Piedmont Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Branham, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Archbishop Mitty on the 25th.
