Basketball Recap: Howard Tech Takes a Loss

Howard Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt an 81-39 loss at the hands of the Red Bank Lions. While losing is never fun, the Hustlin' Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Lions are ranked 64th).

Red Bank was led to victory by Jaylen Rice and Mike Alex. Rice went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Alex dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Alex a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobey Jones, who posted 11 points and eight assists.

Howard Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Red Bank, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Howard Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-31 loss against East Hamilton on the 10th. As for Red Bank, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-29 victory against Hixson on the 13th.
