Baseball Recap: Tokay Comes Up Short

If Tokay was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Franklin last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Edison Vikings by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

Brock Sell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Tokay is 8-3 when Sell posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Van Dyke, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Tokay's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 13-11. As for Edison, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tokay beat Edison by a score of 8-2 on Friday.
