Basketball Recap: Redondo Union Takes Down Nationally-Ranked Volcano Vista

On Friday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the court. The Redondo Union Sea Hawks rang in the new year with a 69-60 victory over the Volcano Vista Hawks. The 69-point effort marked the Sea Hawks' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Redondo Union's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. As for Volcano Vista, with the defeat, they broke their 27-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-1.

Redondo Union won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Basha at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Volcano Vista, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Volcano Vista Hawks face off against the Hobbs Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Volcano Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Hobbs likes a good challenge.
