Volleyball Recap: Merrillville Pirates vs. Michigan City Wolves

After flying high against Portage last Thursday, Merrillville came back down to earth. The Pirates fell just short of the Michigan City Wolves by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Merrillville started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-7.

Their offense was headlined by Larry Williams and Logan Krause, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Maurice LaGrand and his 17 assists. Jocci Maclin controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Merrillville's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Michigan City, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Merrillville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Kouts on the 1st. As for Michigan City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Valparaiso on the 1st.
