Softball Recap: Lenape's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Lenape dropped their record down to 8-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 4-0 to the Cherokee Chiefs. The game marked the first time this season in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

As for Cherokee, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

For Cherokee's part, not much got past Cali Taylor, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Lenape off the board. Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cherokee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Cunane, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Eliana Scalese, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Lenape will challenge Cinnaminson at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cherokee, they will take on Shawnee at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
