Lovington hasn't had much luck against Roswell recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will square off against the Coyotes at 5:00 p.m. Lovington will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Lovington got the win against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent by a conclusive 17-3. Considering the Wildcats have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lovington got a great performance from Josiah Gauna as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Gauna posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mika Pando, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Wieser, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lovington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Roswell sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Denver City on Saturday.

Abey Tescano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
