Basketball Game Preview: Cardington-Lincoln Pirates vs. River Valley Vikings

The Cardington-Lincoln Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the River Valley Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cardington-Lincoln will head into Wednesday's game on the come-up: they were handed a 37-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They skirted past Mt. Gilead 35-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since February 8, 2024.

Abigail Hardwick was her usual excellent self, going 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and five boards. Rylee Jones also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Meanwhile, River Valley blew past Galion, posting a 59-25 victory.

Cardington-Lincoln now has a winning record of 10-9. As for River Valley, their record is now 7-13.

Cardington-Lincoln didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against River Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 40-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cardington-Lincoln since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
