Basketball Recap: Mccutcheon Wins Going Away Against Benton Central

McCutcheon won the last time they faced Benton Central and things went their way on Thursday too. The McCutcheon Mavericks enjoyed a cozy 44-28 win over the Benton Central Bison. The 44-point effort marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

McCutcheon found their leader in sophomore Lillie Graves, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ameria Gibson, who posted eight points and four steals.

McCutcheon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

McCutcheon's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Benton Central, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCutcheon will host Parke Heritage at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. McCutcheon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season. As for Benton Central, they will welcome Lafayette Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
