Softball Recap: Sebring Comes Up Short

Sebring dropped their record down to 12-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Avon Park Red Devils by a score of 7-5. The Blue Streaks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Devils earlier this season, when they won 10-9.

Sebring saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tera Lynn Price, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Price has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

As for Avon Park, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On Avon Park's side, Paisley Macias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kamya Brassell, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Henderson, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Sebring does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Avon Park, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
