Baseball Recap: Monticello Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Monticello, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the North Sevier Wolves 18-3 on Friday. The Buckaroo might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Triston Felix made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Monticello is 5-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Felix was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Jaeden Camacho was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Cache Young was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.

Monticello was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Monticello's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for North Sevier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Monticello beat North Sevier by a score of 12-10 later that day.
