Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Starts off Right with Win over Greeley Central

Roosevelt had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Greeley Central Wildcats on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Roughriders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Brady Mylander made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Mason Sauer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Kayden Bryant, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley Central only posted a batting average of .048.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will head out to face off against Dakota Ridge at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Greeley Central, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge Timnath at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
