Volleyball Recap: Garfield Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Garfield waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Conneaut Spartans. That's more bragging rights for the G-Men, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Garfield took both sets by at least 15 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-9.

Mandy Cardinal paced Garfield's offense, picking up 12 kills. Cardinal got some help from Reese Shirkey and her 16 assists. Finally, Cardinal was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Garfield's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Conneaut, their defeat was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Garfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Berkshire on the 20th. As for Conneaut, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Lutheran West on the 20th.
