Football Recap: Cummings Falls to Williams in First Game of Season

Cummings unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 43-0 loss at the hands of the Williams Bulldogs on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 53rd).

Kyrian Fuller went supernova For Williams., rushing for 115 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, while also throwing for 148 yards and three TDs. Those 115 rushing yards gave Fuller a new career-high. Amarion Richmond was another key player, rushing for 124 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cummings is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Williams, they will head out to take on Eastern Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
