Baseball Recap: Catholic Comes Up Short

Catholic had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-10 to make it six. They fell just short of the Christchurch School Seahorses by a score of 4-3. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Seahorses earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stone Soleau, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Christchurch School, the win got them back to even at 10-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 28th.

On Christchurch School's side, Trey Fitchett was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Fitchett has become a key player for the Seahorses: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise. Tyler Hawkey was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Catholic will head out to square off against Norfolk Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ambassadors have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Christchurch School, they will head out on the road to challenge Walsingham Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
