Recap: Philip Simmons Iron Horses vs. Battery Creek Dolphins
The Philip Simmons Iron Horses came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Battery Creek by a score of 45-32. Given Philip Simmons' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Battery Creek is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lily Buceti was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Germany Moore was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Philip Simmons has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Battery Creek, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Philip Simmons will take on Aynor at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Battery Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hanahan at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Hanahan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
