Basketball Recap: North Country Union Falcons vs. Montpelier Solons
North Country Union lost against Montpelier back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The North Country Union Falcons had to suffer through a 93-53 loss at the hands of the Montpelier Solons. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Vermont basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Solons are ranked third).
Leading Montpelier to victory were Carter Bruzzese and Kleo Bridge. Bruzzese went 8 for 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds, while Bridge went 9 of 12 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and six assists. That's the most points Bridge has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clayton Foster, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and six assists.
North Country Union now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Montpelier, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
North Country Union will face off against Thetford Academy at 2:04 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Montpelier, they will head out on the road to take on Lamoille at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montpelier knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Lamoille likes a good challenge.
