Centura is 10-0 against Gibbon since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Centura Centurions are taking a road trip to challenge the Gibbon Buffaloes at 7:45 p.m. Centura is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Centura is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Cozad on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Centura was dealt an 80-45 loss at the hands of Cozad. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Haymakers are ranked 23rd).

Despite the defeat, Centura got top-tier performance from Barrett Fries, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Tyus Francl, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Centura was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Gibbon ended up a good deal behind Amherst on Thursday and lost 62-48. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Centura's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Gibbon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Everything came up roses for Centura against Gibbon when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 66-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centura since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
