Basketball Game Preview: Spruce Creek Hawks vs. Atlantic Sharks

The Spruce Creek Hawks will head out to face off against the Atlantic Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spruce Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Atlantic likes a good challenge.

While Spruce Creek didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past DeLand with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 82-68. The Hawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Atlantic earned a 96-89 win over Father Lopez on Thursday. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Green Wave are ranked 431st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Atlantic and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Spruce Creek, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Spruce Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Atlantic when the teams last played back in February of 2022, winning 34-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spruce Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
