It was a good run, but Avon Grove unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Downingtown West Whippets by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since April 26, 2024.

Elle Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Avon Grove suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 16-3. As for Downingtown West, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Avon Grove is set to challenge their familiar foe Unionville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Downingtown West will square off against rival Coatesville at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Whippets 3.1, the Red Raiders 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
