Preview: Spring Woods Tigers vs. Alief Hastings Bears

The Spring Woods Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alief Hastings Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Spring Woods focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.

Last Friday, Spring Woods suffered a rough 62-37 loss at the hands of Klein Oak. While losing is never fun, Spring Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1051st, while Klein Oak is ranked 329th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaelin Bargas, who scored 10 points. Trae Pickens was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Alief Hastings beat Bell 53-49 on Saturday.

Alief Hastings can attribute much of their success to Giovanni Bernal, who scored 16 points along with 5 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Bernal has scored at least 25% of Alief Hastings' points. Another player making a difference was Wembo Fernandes, who scored 4 points.

Kingwood's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Spring Woods' defeat dropped theirs to 3-8.

Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Spring Woods have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Alief Hastings struggles in that department as they've drained 38.8% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
