Baseball Recap: Laville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Tippecanoe Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask LaVille). They put the hurt on the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings with a sharp 17-3 victory on Friday. Considering the Lancers have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brayden Schwitz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of LaVille's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Karson Quinn was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew Wolford, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

LaVille was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

LaVille's record is now 5-3. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, LaVille will square off against Argos at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.67 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-4 loss against DeKalb on the 19th.
