Recap: John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles vs. Cleveland Central Catholic Ironmen
In what's become a running theme this season, the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They blew past Cleveland Central Catholic 72-28 at home. With John F. Kennedy Catholic ahead 44-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
John F. Kennedy Catholic was led to victory by Gianna Pompelia and Didi Ryan. Pompelia scored 15 points along with seven assists and five steals, while Ryan almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. Ryan is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Addy Odille, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Cleveland Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from Teavonna Clements, who scored 12 points.
John F. Kennedy Catholic pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
John F. Kennedy Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Rootstown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rootstown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully John F. Kennedy Catholic likes a good challenge. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they will be playing at home against Garfield Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Garfield Heights comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
