Recap: Elkhart Wildcats vs. Deerfield Spartans
The Elkhart Wildcats won the last time they faced the Deerfield Spartans, and things went their way on Thursday too. Elkhart came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans and snuck past 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Elkhart has posted against the Spartans since January 10, 2017.
Deerfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cristian Botello, who scored 18 points along with six assists, and Michael Lira who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Botello has scored all season.
Elkhart's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for Deerfield, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-8.
