Basketball Recap: Salado Comes Up Short

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Salado was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a 57-24 loss at the hands of the Gateway College Preparatory Gators. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Travis Smith was a one-man wrecking crew for Gateway College Preparatory as he went 11 for 15 on his way to 24 points and six boards. What's more, Smith also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Dallas Gurley was another key player, putting up ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Salado has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-19 record this season. As for Gateway College Preparatory, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7.

Salado wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-27 victory against Marble Falls on the 11th. As for Gateway College Preparatory, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-45 win against Lampasas on the 11th.
