Volleyball Recap: Deshler's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of six wins, Deshler's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers by a score of 2-1. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Deshler started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-18, 15-7.

Olivia Adams paced Deshler's offense, picking up 12 kills. Adams got some help from Makayla Willingham and her 19 assists. Adams was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Deshler's defeat dropped their record down to 33-9. As for John Carroll Catholic, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Deshler will head out to square off against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Carroll Catholic, they will square off against Oak Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
