Basketball Game Preview: New Haven Shamrocks vs. Vienna Eagles

The New Haven Shamrocks are taking a road trip to face off against the Vienna Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. New Haven is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, New Haven was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-50 to Bismarck.

Meanwhile, Vienna won against Plato on Friday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Vienna blew past Grandview 58-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Vienna.

Vienna's win came from a few key players New Haven will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Teagan James, who went 9 of 17 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Zimmer, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Vienna was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

New Haven's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Vienna, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

New Haven took a serious blow against Vienna in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 68-26. Can New Haven avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
