Football Recap: Carmel Piles Up the Points Against North Central

Carmel had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-1 to make it five. They blew past the North Central Panthers, posting a 63-14 win. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 24 points or more this season.

Anthony Coellner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 149 yards and three TDs while completing 90.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 41 yards and one score. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Ayden Johnson was another key player, rushing for 52 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carmel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jacob Bellin, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

As for North Central, their record is now 2-4. They have struggled against Carmel recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

North Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Chase Grove, who threw for 164 yards and one TD.

Carmel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-0 victory against Ben Davis on the 3rd. As for North Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 49-14 loss against Lawrence Central on the 3rd.
