Softball Recap: Port Allegany Takes a Loss

Port Allegany lost against Northern Potter back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Gators fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-3. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bria Wilcox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Port Allegany saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Gordon, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Gordon has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Port Allegany's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Northern Potter, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Port Allegany wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-6 win against Coudersport on the 30th. As for Northern Potter, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-0 victory against Smethport on the 30th.
