Softball Game Preview: Gray's Creek Bears vs. Cape Fear Colts

The Gray's Creek Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Cape Fear Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gray's Creek will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Gray's Creek earned a 9-6 win over Jack Britt.

Gray's Creek let Imani Pierce and Amariya Green run wild. Pierce scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Green went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Amber Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Gray's Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jack Britt only posted an OBP of .382.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Cape Fear was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They lost 7-1 to South View. The game marked the Colts' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Amari Adams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Gray's Creek pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Cape Fear, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Gray's Creek hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cape Fear struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Gray's Creek took their win against Cape Fear in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 22-9. Will Gray's Creek repeat their success, or does Cape Fear has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
