Basketball Game Preview: Mackay Miners vs. Alturas Prep Pumas

Having just played yesterday, the Mackay Miners will get right back to it and host the Alturas Prep Pumas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alturas Prep took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mackay, who comes in off a win.

Mackay will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Grace Lutheran, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Mackay came out on top against Grace Lutheran by a score of 49-38 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Meanwhile, Alturas Prep opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-38 defeat to American Heritage. The Pumas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alturas Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Mackay, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Mackay beat Alturas Prep 53-44 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Mackay repeat their success, or does Alturas Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
