Pecatonica proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the East Troy Trojans. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on five straight.
Pecatonica found their leader in freshman Cayla Doescher, who had 16 digs. Those 16 digs set a new season-high mark for Doescher. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Orloff, who had 15 digs.
East Troy's loss came despite strong showings from Carli Murphy and Madi Wojciuch. Murphy had 15 digs and three assists, while Wojciuch had three digs and three aces. With that strong performance, Murphy is now averaging an impressive 10.7 digs per game.
Pecatonica's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for East Troy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Pecatonica wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against River Valley on the 6th. As for East Troy, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Brookwood on the 6th.
