Basketball Game Preview: Patrick County Cougars vs. Floyd County Buffaloes

Patrick County is 0-10 against Floyd County since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Patrick County Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Floyd County Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. Patrick County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Patrick County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Radford 57-40 on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Floyd County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 55-48 to James River. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Knights are ranked 88th).

Floyd County's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Patrick County, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Patrick County ended up a good deal behind Floyd County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 44-29. Can Patrick County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
