Football Game Preview: Melba Mustangs vs. Marsing Huskies + How To Watch

Melba is 9-1 against Marsing since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Marsing took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Melba, who comes in off a win.

Melba is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Parma, posting a 66-7 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their 13-point performance the matchup before.

Rhett Franklin was his usual excellent self, rushing for 215 yards and four TDs on only 11 carries. Elias Shoemaker did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Melba was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Marsing had to suffer through a 41-8 loss at the hands of Nampa Christian. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marsing now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Melba, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Melba has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 151 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Marsing struggles in that department as they've been averaging 161.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Melba might still be hurting after the 35-12 defeat they got from Marsing when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 27-6.
