Football Recap: Las Animas Starts off Right with Win over Sangre De Cristo + How To Watch

Las Animas had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds 56-22. The Trojans pushed the score to 56-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Thunderbirds cut but never quite recovered from.

Orion Martinez went supernova, rushing for 156 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Jerome Ethridge also helped with two scores in total.

Las Animas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ethridge and Gio Chavez.

Sangre de Cristo's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Las Animas will head out to face off against Walsenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sangre de Cristo, they will be playing at home against Soroco at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
