Preview: Bethel Bison vs. Graham-Kapowsin Eagles
Bethel is 0-3 against Graham-Kapowsin since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bethel Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Bethel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Graham-Kapowsin is ranked first).
Last Friday, Bethel had to suffer through a rough 42-14 loss at the hands of Sumner.
Elijah Pula put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, Graham-Kapowsin put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Emerald Ridge with a 41-35 victory. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Graham-Kapowsin was the better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Daveon Superales, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Superales was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Jabez Woods did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 169 receiving yards.
Bethel's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Graham-Kapowsin, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Bethel has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 227.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Graham-Kapowsin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Bethel might still be hurting after the 34-14 loss they got from Graham-Kapowsin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Bethel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
