Volleyball Recap: East Wake Academy Comes Up Short + How To Watch

East Wake Academy lost against Roxboro Community back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-20 in the first set.

East Wake Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-18.

Despite the defeat, East Wake Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Schmidt had 29 assists and 15 digs. Schmidt is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emerson Morris, who had 13 kills, six digs, and two blocks.

East Wake Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Roxboro Community, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
