Basketball Game Preview: Davis Darts vs. Westlake Thunder

The Davis Darts will challenge the Westlake Thunder at 4:10 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Davis comes in on three and Westlake on five.

Davis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Lehi 54-52.

Meanwhile, everything went Westlake's way against Farmington on Thursday as Westlake made off with a 52-29 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Westlake found their leader in sophomore Janiece Sikander, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Sikander a new career-high in steals (six). Ella Seymore was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Westlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Westlake pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points over those games. As for Davis, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.

Davis came up short against Westlake in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, falling 45-32. Can Davis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
