Softball Recap: Oswego Starts Season with Win on the Road

Oswego had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Batavia Bulldogs with a sharp 18-6 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Aubriella Garza and Jaelynn Anthony were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Garza pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Anthony pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Garza gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Garza scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Anthony went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those four runs gave Garza a new career-high.

In other batting news, Natalie Muellner was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kennedy Gengler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

Oswego will take on Naperville North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Batavia, they will face off against Glenbard West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
