Basketball Recap: Montgomery Johnston's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dawson Springs over Union County

Dawson Springs entered their contest against Union County on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dawson Springs Panthers took a 70-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Braves. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Montgomery Johnston, who went 10-for-18 on his way to 25 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Johnston is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rex Blue, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.

Dawson Springs' loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Union County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
